Lady Gaga Announces ‘Joanne’ World Tour


Hot on the heels of her inclusive, upbeat and largely apolitical Super Bowl halftime show, Lady Gaga announced a major world tour on Sunday night.

She posted the news of the tour on Twitter:

The tour takes its name from her most recent album, “Joanne,” which was released in October.

Several hours after posting the news on Twitter, tour dates and locations were listed on Lady Gaga’s website. The tour will begin in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Aug. 1, and will include stops in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin and other cities across Europe and the Western Hemisphere before wrapping up in Salt Lake City in December.

Some fans said they were eager to hear her perform but expected to pay handsomely for the privilege.

Others seemed unsurprised that Gaga was riding the wave of her Super Bowl success with a big announcement:

Lady Gaga’s last major tour, titled “Cheek to Cheek,” promoted an album of jazz ballads that she released with the singer Tony Bennett.
