Renewing contract with Real Madrid a ‘dream come true’ says Gareth Bale

Real Madrid CF will start their UEFA Champions League campaign against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. Two seasons ago, these two sides collided in the UCL round of 16, which saw Los Blancos emerge as the winners. In terms of club spending, both these teams are considered heavyweights. This match may be either side’s toughest group match this season and it may very well be a battle to claim the top group spot.

Since 2015, this is the first instance where Real Madrid will start their UCL campaign without being the defending champions. The Spanish giants have remained unbeaten so far in their La Liga campaign. However, with seven of their first-team members missing, the Spaniards may face a tremendous challenge in Paris.

Both teams are filled with stars worth millions of Euros in wages. Parc des Princes in Paris is all set to witness a remarkable clash between these two high net worth European clubs. Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will suffer headaches, given that his team will feel the absence of some of their prime players.

Isco Alarcon, Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio, and Luka Modric will miss the match because of injuries. The most recent Madrid player to join the cursed list is the Brazilian full-back Marcelo. Apart from the injury of these key players, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and Nacho, are suspended for the Paris match. In their absence, Raphael Varane and Eder Militao might be the only options. These two have played together for only 30 minutes in an official match. So, RMCF might be in for some challenges in Paris this Wednesday.

For PSG, their celebrated players Kylian Mbappe, as well as Edison Cavani, will miss their home game against Real Madrid also because of injuries. On the other hand, the world’s most expensive footballer, Neymar Jr, will also miss the game. The controversial Brazilian is currently serving a three-match suspension. Mauro Icardi, who joined PSG from Inter Milan on loan, may make his full debut on Wednesday.

According to the Evening Standard, Eden Hazard is fully fit once again. Real Madrid will have a lot of options up front but the Spanish side will be missing key defenders. It remains to be seen which side will be able to cope well while missing so many stars.
